Russian Language: functioning and developing

April 18 - Kazan Federal University opened International Conference "Russian Language: functioning and developing", devoted to the 85th anniversary of Vitaly Markov - follower of traditions of Kazan linguistic school, Honored Scientist of Russia.
Info - Vitaly Markov - Doctor of philological sciences, professor of Kazan University (1927 - 2010). A renowned scholar, he created a historic school, developed an ideology and the orderly method of comprehensive, multi-dimensional analysis of linguistic facts of the ancient and modern Russian language.
Applications for participation were received from more than 200 scholars from Spain, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, and many regions of Russia.
The activity of the sections will continue until April 21. The aim of the conference is to identify and discuss the most pressing, topical issues of the Russian language from the ancient times until the modern period.
In line with this, the work is carried out in 6 sections: phonetics and phonology, lexicology and word formation, grammatical system of Russian and other Slavic languages, grammatical lexicology, semantics and structure of the text, language and writing of ancient texts.
Cultural program for the participants includes: visit to the Museum of History of Kazan University, tour around the city, a trip to Raifa monastery and visit of the Markov’s tomb.
