April 16: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Werner Lehfeldt is a world renowned Slavic scholar from Germany. In his works he deals with a scope of Slavic languages, including Russian. Among his numerous titles are an active member and Vice-President Gottingen Academy of Science. On April 19 KFU Senate will confer the title of Doctor Emiritus of Kazan University to Prof. Werner Lehfeldt.

Lately, Prof. Werner Lehfeldt has been working on the historiography of Kazan University. He works with various sources in Russia and abroad that shed light on contacts of German scholars with Kazan University. His last work Gauss and Russia uncovers relationships of the great scientist with our country and Kazan University, in particular.
