Elsevier Publishing House Presented Its Opportunities to Scientific Community of KFU

A seminar presenting products and opportunities of Elsevier publishing house was held today, on the 19th of September, in N. I. Lobachevskiy Scientific Library. Mr. Vadim Sobolev, the analytic project manager, Elsevier S&T in Russia and the Republic of Belarus, addressed teachers and research officers of Kazan Federal University.

Elsevier publishing house is the largest scientific publishing company in the world. As it was stated at the seminar, it publishes about 40 percent of all scientific publications in Europe and over 25 percent of them in the world. It is worth noting that the scientific community of KFU knows Elsevier publishing house firsthand: the Library has been subscribing to its products since 2004; it means that our scientists have had an access to the publishing house’s archives since 2000. Furthermore, there have been seminars repeatedly held in the University in collaboration with Elsevier representatives.

Today Mr. Vadim Sobolev refreshed information by presenting resources offered by Elsevier publishing house for science and education and told the audience about such databases as Scopus, SciVal, Reaxyz, Geofacets and Illumin8.

The Director of N. I. Lobachevskiy Scientific Library, Mr. Yevgeniy Strukov, informed his colleagues of the fact that negotiations on the Library data bank widening were conducted at that time. In this connection he asked the attendees to send him their proposals on resources being of interest to them.

Recall that access to Elsevier products is provided through the site of N. I. Lobachevskiy Scientific Library, both through KFU network computers and personal computers with the help of authorization in “E-University”.
