The delegation of KFU and representatives of 'Schlumberger' visited Suncor Energy Center

The delegation of Kazan Federal University and representatives of "Schlumberger" company visited Suncor Energy Center, the largest integrated energy company specializing in the production of synthetic crude oil from oil sands.

The meeting was attended by Director General of the Department of innovative technologies, manager of the department, manager of the unit of extraction technologies from the Suncor Energy. The meeting began with a presentation of Kazan Federal University, then Russell Engelmann, in turn, spoke about the main activities of Suncor Energy. He introduced the problems and peculiarities of the market of heavy oils in Canada, projects and assets of the company at the moment.

The main objective of the company is to achieve the production of 1 million barrels per day by 2020.

Near Fort McMurray (Athabasca) Suncor is engaged in mining and processing of oil sands into high-quality synthetic crude oil and diesel fuel.

Suncor invests in the development of clean, renewable energy sources.

Suncor has six projects to develop wind energy. According to forecasts of projects they are designed to produce a total capacity of 255 megawatts. It is expected that these wind power projects will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 500,000 tons annually.

During the working dinner the parties discussed the prospects of further cooperation, as well as the possibility of concluding agreements in the field of scientific research projects.

April 5 - the delegation visits the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
