University monitors student motivation

Institute of Education at the Higher School of Economics with support of the Leading Universities Association in Economics and Management launches a new big research Monitoring student characteristics and trajectories. Kazan Federal University will be also engaged in this research.

In the recent years universities as well as labor markets were changed essentially. However it is unknown in what way do students change their behavior strategies and what kind of experience do they gain – positive or negative.  This fact complicates process of taking decisions not only on the level of universities but on the level of the whole system of higher education.

According to Igor Chirikov range of research work covers 12 universities and 10000-12000 students.  Among the experimental universities are the Ural and Kazan Federal Universities,  Novosibirsk State University, Saint Petersburg State University of Economics, Russian State Humanitarian University, Financial University, etc.

Peculiarity of this project`s pilot stage lies in its focus on students of economical and management specialty, however, several universities will research other specialties as well.

Questions that will be addressed to students can be classified into 6 groups:  the first group concerns educational process; the second group – areas they invest to their efforts and time; the third group – participation of students in research work; the fourth group is connected with work and career; separate group relates to the use of Internet and electronic resources in educational process; the last group is connected with students attribute to plagiarism and writing-off.
