An Interdisciplinary Seminar was Held in KFU

There was a seminar meeting held today, on the 6th of August. The topic was: “Interdisciplinary problems in the field of natural sciences: innovation potential and development prospects in the field of geology, biology and medicine on the basis of radiophysical measurements”.

Recall that during previous seminars the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology and the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies familiarized the attendees with their material and technical resources and scientific research potential.

When opening the seminar, the Vice-Rector for Research, Mr. Danis Nurgaliev, focus attention on the fact that the mission of such meetings was to acquaint colleagues with developments made in the University and, consequently, create an opportunity for cooperation in the sphere of interdisciplinary project implementation. In April, 2013 a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between KFU and Agilent Technologies company. Aiming to increase the level of technical specialist training in the most popular and widely needed disciplines, this organisation offers a lot of projects for the sphere of education: awards grants for research, equips higher education institutions, opens joint laboratories.

Head of the Department of Radiophysics of the Institute of Physics, Mr. Oleg Sherstyukov, told the audience about researches which are planned to be conducted in the University with the help of equipment manufactured by Agilent Technologies company. Modelling of radio-wave propagation in human body tissues, developments in the field of breast cancer identification, craniocerebral injury detection and others can be mentioned among them.

“Kazan Federal University shows deep interest in interdisciplinary cooperation,” the senior product manager, Mr. Maxim Shvedov, stated. “We have been developing our cooperation for more than a year already, and we are ready to offer you tools and equipment. Preliminarily performed works provide broad opportunities for experiments and new ideas, which can bring financial advantage and grants for research. Some examples of preliminary works were given today, but the room for experiments and search for new applications is still wide, and the search depends exactly on people who are pursuing science. Opening of a Joint Centre for Collective Research will be one of the next steps we are going to take together with KFU.”
