KFU Students Took Part in Summer School of Geometry

Students of KFU Branch in Zelenodolsk took part in the International Summer School of Geometry, which was held in Poland this July.

The school was organised in collaboration with the partner University of Lodz and offered an extensive lecture course. Students from Russia, Poland, Belgium, Italy, France and Spain came to Poland to attend this course. In Lodz they got acquainted with the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Faculty of Physics and Applied Informatics; they also had an opportunity not only to attend lectures, but also to be active participants of the training process.

On one of these days a video communication was oragnised between Kazan University and the University of Lodz with the assistance of the Institute of Continuing Education of KFU (Educational Resources Development Department). It permitted students who were not participating in this school to attend one of the meetings in the video-seminar format and listen to reports on research works conducted by their fellow students. A circumstantial report made by Alexander Myagkov in Kazan auditorium aroused a special interest. The Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Mr. Stanislav Spodeya, offered to carry on the tradition of such video seminars.

In spite of large number of classes, students still managed to find time for rest. There was a volleyball match held between the Russians and Poles one evening. Our team won a confident victory in it. After that the players were “mixed”, and an amicable game that ended in a draw – with a traditional handshake – was held then.

Students express effusive gratitude to everyone who was involved in the event organizing and holding.
