London, Portsmouth, Cambridge…

From June, 14 up to June, 20 Head of the Department of International and European Law, Doctor of Science in Law, Professor Adel Abdullin and Associate Professor from the same Department, Candidate of Science in Law, Rustem Davletgildeev had a business trip to the Great Britain and visited there various universities (Cambridge University, University College London and University of Portsmouth).

In the University of Portsmouth they discussed the prospects of cooperation in development and implementation of joint academic programs. The British side was represented by Professor Paul Flinli, Professor Karen Herd, Professor Anna Singilakis and the Head of the School of Law, Caroline Strevens.

During this meeting they discussed plans for comparing Master programs in European Integration taught in both of the universities. Moreover, they touched the issue concerning double diploma awarding in Master Degree taking into account launch of interdisciplinary Master program “Politics, Law and Society in European Union and Eurasia” in Kazan University. This program allows students who study in this program to be awarded of Master Degree of Kazan and Portsmouth Universities, as well as spend one semester in the university-partner. In addition, they considered the questions regarding organising lectures by British specialists in Kazan University, participating in summer and winter schools on European Integration and joint publications of Kazan and British scholars.      

In the Cambridge University our representatives had a meeting with the leading expert in EU law, acknowledged authority in European social and labour law, Professor Catherine Barnar.

Our representatives told Professor Barnar about scientific and educational potential of our university and the Faculty of Law as well as hospitality of our city and republic. They discussed a wide range of issues regarding cooperation, they also agreed on visit of Professor Barnar to Kazan in 2014 to deliver lectures on vital problems of European and International Law to Kazan students and joint publications on modern problems of legal regulations of integration processes in EU and Eurasia.

In the University College London Kazan lawyers participated in International Conference on “International violation of human rights – state responsibility and the problem of state immunity”. This conference was attended by leading lawyers in human rights protection from the Great Britain and other European countries, as well as by practicing experts, diplomats, etc. In particular, Geraldine van Buren, Eileen       Denza, Benjamin V. Emerson, etc.
