Agreement of cooperation between KFU and Yerevan State University

On June, 24 delegation from Yerevan State University consisting of Rector, Mr. Aram Simonyan, and Dean of the Faculty of Physics, Roland Avakyan, visited KFU.

After excursion in the Museum of History of Kazan University guests had meeting with KFU administration. KFU Rector, Ilshat Gafurov, and Directors of Institutes participated in the discussion concerning cooperation.

Aram Simonyan noted that resuming lost connections of Yerevan State University existed in the Soviet period was very important. Their University mainly cooperates with universities from non-CIS countries, but currently they are in the process of resuming former contacts with Russia.

Rector of Yerevan State University described the difficult situation in the sphere of education in Armenia. They work in conditions of fierce competition with other universities because their country is small, the amount of students is small as well.

Mr. Simonyan has defined Physics as priority area for cooperation, because in Armenia this science is profitable. In the course of further discussions participants chose some other areas for cooperation – Archeology and History. Ishat Gafurov pointed out that Armenia and Tatarstan are rich archeological zones where historians can conduct joint research.

As a result of active discussion there was signed an agreement of cooperation the main aim of which is to support academic exchange. This agreement provides exchange and cooperation between academic staff, scientists and students in educational projects of physical and mathematical area; realization of joint scientific projects; organization of academic programs/courses, seminars, scientific conferences and other forms of knowledge exchange; realization of joint academic projects.
