From January 29 to February 3, 2024, the Sirius University of Science and Technology hosted an intensive educational program “Modern Methods of Robotics and Control Theory” in Sochi. In the process of mastering the educational program, the students acquired knowledge about modern approaches and methods of research of actual problems of mechanics, robotics and control theory, got acquainted with the formulation of actual thematic problems in applications, as well as acquired skills and abilities to use modern analytical and numerical methods of their solution.
Aidar Zagirov, an employee of the Laboratory of Intelligent Robotics Systems (LIRS) at the Institute of Information Technologies and Intelligent Systems (ITIS) of Kazan Federal University (KFU), and Polina Plusnina, a first-year master's student in the Intelligent Robotics program at the Institute of ITIS, completed the program.
"During the week we were trained in the program "Modern methods of robotics and control theory", where experts in the field of robotics and mathematics showed their developments, raised current problems, shared their experience, - says Polina. - At the same time, we were given the opportunity to see with our own eyes the application of new scientific developments, so we visited laboratories with industrial manipulators, as well as Rosatom's scientific project "Breakthrough". Such a program is a great opportunity to get new experience, to be inspired by other works, to meet other specialists, to learn from experts. This program gave me knowledge that I would like to apply in my work in the future."
"Sirius educational programs are a great opportunity to distract yourself for a week from gray everyday life, immerse yourself in a topic that interests you, make new acquaintances, and learn more about studying at Sirius," Aidar shared his impressions. – “Our program was dedicated to Mathematical Robotics. Every day masters of their craft gave us their lectures on robotics, mathematics, and artificial intelligence. They told us about the current problems and challenges ahead of us. During the program, we were given a tour of Sirius University: we were shown and told about how the training takes place and what projects the masters are engaged in. In the laboratory we were introduced to ABB industrial robots used in training and the famous butterfly robot. In addition to lectures on mathematical robotics, experts representing the sponsor of the educational program Rosatom told us about the results and plans of current projects, including the creation of a low-power nuclear power plant based on the SHELF-M reactor plant, work in the direction of "Breakthrough" and the development of a tokamak using reactor technologies. In the middle of the program, all program participants were invited to a hockey match between Sochi and Dinamo (Minsk). It was a very tense match that ended with a score of 3:2 in favor of Sochi. The week in Sirius was very interesting and intense. I hope I will be able to participate in Sirius educational programs in the future.”
