Head of Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems Evgeni Magid gave interview to Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russian Federation

Head of the Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems (LIRS), Professor of the Intelligent Robotics Department of the Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems (ITIS) (Kazan Federal University (KFU)) Evgeni Magid spoke to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation about the work on the mobile robot “Engineer” algorithms of the domestic company “Servosila”.

“Servosila Engineer” is a mobile lightweight robot for use in inaccessible places. It can be applied in educational and scientific research, fire and rescue services, engineering and maintenance work.

“In the Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems of KFU, specialists are working on improving capabilities of robot and communication with it. For example, the algorithm we are developing for autonomous stairs climbing can be used as an additional tool when controlling a robot both in teleoperation and autonomous modes,” said Evgeni Magid.

The laboratory is mainly engaged in robot “brain” training – the creation of new interaction protocols, algorithms and programming. Also, LIRS members create virtual robot models in Gazebo and Webots simulators for preliminary testing of new methods and algorithms before the integration into robot control systems. Some of the latest research results were presented by LIRS specialists at the SIBCON conference.
