Agreement on Cooperation between KFU and Saint Petersburg State University

On May, 6 was held conference “Alliance of Three Universities during the War” in KFU Elabuga branch. Representatives of Saint Petersburg University, KFU Institute of History,  KFU Elabuga branch and Elabuga State Historic and Architectural Museum participated there.

KFU Rector was the first to take floor. He thanked his colleagues from Saint Petersburg for coming. Representatives from Saint Petersburg remembered war time and how it was difficult to switch to production and development of military equipment and weapons. Some of the scientists were evacuated to Elabuga with their families.

Moreover, Associate Professor, Deputy Director of the Institute of History Ekaterina Krivonozhkina and Candidate of Sciences in Pedagogy, Associate Professor Mansur Gilmullin told about years during the evacuation.

The final report was delivered by Deputy Director of Elabuzhsky State Historical and Architectural Museum Alexander Degotkov, who spoke about the men of Art who lived in Elabuga during the war: Marina Tsvetaeva, Sergey Lemeshev, Mikhail  Lozinskiy. Furthermore, among the creative people were German war prisoners - photographers, artists and writers. With the arrival of writers cultural life in Yelabuga revived and even flourished. 13 writers and members of their families were evacuated to Elabuga during the war.

Memorial plaque dedicated to the Alliance of three universities that functioned during the war in Elabuga would resemble that time. The grand opening was held upon completion of the round table. The plaque is located in the recreational hall on the third floor.

At the end of the Ceremony was signed the Agreement for Cooperation between the Kazan Federal University and St. Petersburg State University. In the framework of this agreement it is planned to cooperate in research and educational activities, such as students and teachers exchange.

Honored guests from St. Petersburg congratulated Elabuga branch, all Faculty mambers, staff and students with the anniversary - 115 years since the founding of the Diocesan Women's College. They  wished success and donated to the Museum of History of KFU Elabuga branch exclusive archival materials and promised to return to Yelabuga again. The director of the Museum of History of St. Petersburg State University Igor Tikhonov promised to take part in the VI International  Readings n.a. Staheev "Small Russian Towns: Past, Present and Future" and Professor  from St. Petersburg State University Alexei Nikolsky offered to deliver a lecture on chemistry, especially as KFU Elabuga branch  plans to open new specialty "Teacher of biology and chemistry."
