Professor from Istanbul University, Mr. Emine Yeniterzi, at the Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations

On April, 17 Professor of Turkic manus­cripts studies from the Istanbul University of Civilizations visited our University in the framework of project for studying rare manus­cripts.

Ms Emine visited Kazan University and the Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations with purpose of studying and acquainting  with the collection of rare books and manus­cripts at the Nikolai Lobachevskiy Scientific Library.

During the meeting which was held in the Centre of Turkish Culture were discussed questions concerning our cooperation. The Turkish side was interested in themes and amount of Turkic manus­cripts stored in the Scientific Library. Turkish colleague promised to provide assistance in compilation of the manus­cripts catalogue and digitization some of rare manus­cripts. At this moment Yunus Emre Institute together with the Istanbul University of Civilizations has conducted studies on the register of manus­cripts and rare books in the Balkans. The same project Ms. Emine proposed to hold in the Republic of Tatarstan. Professor from Istanbul University was interested designing Turkic and Tatar manus­cript. It was proposed to hold a specialized conference on this issue.

The Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations invited Ms. Yeniterzi to take part in the annual international conference "Islam in a Multicultural World", which will take place at the end of October 2013.
