It Took Two Years To Realize The Idea

The first day of summer is expected to be remarkable not only for our city and Republic, but for the whole country: opening ceremony of Planetarium will be held on the territory of Engelhardt Astronomic Observatory of the Institute of Physics.

On April, 13 KFU Rector Mr. Ilshat Gafurov and CEO of OAO “AK BARS” Mr. R. Minnegaliev examined the construction site. They were satisfied with the results. Besides, specialists from Germany, the USA, the Great Britain and Japan work here.

Ultramodern planetarium complex is the first object of the future Centre for space research and technologies.

The center is being constructed according to the prior directions of development of space systems in the Russian Federation and space technologies in Republic of Tatarstan and in the framework of space programs of Roskosmos and Skolkovo. It will be one of the main points for the development of space research and technologies in Volga region.

In planetarium visitors will be able to plunge into the Universe, observe space processes and phenomena in spherical projection in Stellar Hall, listen to lectures on celestial bodies and their evolution. Optic telescopes including one with H- alpha filter will be installed in pavilion. All these instruments will be set exceptionally for young scientists. Planetarium will be situated in park complex Astropark and this will allow to perform academic activities on unique and fascinating facilities: moon glade, alleys “sound wave”, “galaxies and nebulae”, “space ships”, “solar empire” and many others.

It is planned that the space centre will be equipped with super technological radio astronomic systems and astronomic and geodesic devices as well. Construction of the unique scanner for swift-flowing space processes with 9 channels “Megatartora” will be finished soon.

In prospects the KFU space center will represent the most advanced world space technologies therefore students and post-graduate students will be able to study and to conduct scientific research at space level as it and happens in the most developed world educational centers. It should be also noted that the biggest training and industrial placement on cosmic geodesy where participate astronomers, land levelers, geoecologists, ecologists, geographers and biologists organized by KFU is conducted at the Engelhardt Astronomic Observatory.

The solemn laying of a foundation stone in the base of the future Astropark took place on August, 22, 2011 in the framework of the International astronomical congress carried out in Kazan from August, 22 to August, 30. By the way, the planetarium will be included into a tourist route for guests of the World summer student's games 2013.
