Kazan University Broadens Ties with Belgium

From April 01 to April 06, 2013 a Kazan University delegation was visiting a subsidiary of Agilent Technologies company in Ghent (Belgium) on the company’s invitation. Head of the Department of Radiophysics, Mr. O. N. Sherstyukov, took part in a seminar devoted to presentation of software and hardware technologies developed by the company. Presented there were state-of-the-art technical solutions in the sphere of high-precision measurement, applied for development and production of: wireless digital systems; aeronautical, electronic and radar equipment; radio communication servicing, frequency spectrum monitoring. The following leading specialists and managers of the company made speeches: Мichael Dieudonne (European projects coordinator), Sigi Gross (Vice-President, Head of Digital Testing and Design Department), Benoit Neel (Vice-President, General Manager) and others.

Reference information: Agilent Technologies company, having its central office in Santa Clara, California, has approximately 2.5 thousand employees all over the world, net profit earned by the company in 2012 made 6.9 billion $. The company is the leader in the sphere of computer-aided design systems, high-precision measurements in giga- and terahertz wave bands, chemical analysis technologies, and develops the medical diagnostics branch.

Directors of some enterprises representing radioelectronic industry and heads of educational institutions working in the sphere of radioelectronics and information technologies took part in the organized round tables. Opportunities of Agilent technologies application in the Russian industry, as well as opportunities of these technologies teaching in the framework of engineering education were discussed at these round tables. KFU representatives held a series of personal meetings, at which they sketched out lines of strategic cooperation between the University and the company both in the spheres of education and scientific research in chemistry, biology, medicine etc. The company directors were invited to Kazan University to get familiarized with achievements of the University and form a spectrum of interaction and cooperation fields.

Simultaneously with the aforesaid events, in Ghent teachers of the Department of Radiophysics, Mr. R. R. Latypov, the Assistant Professor, and Mr. Ye. V. Danilov, the assistant lecturer, were taught to work with the system of computer-aided design of radioelectronic devices (ADS) and got certificates of the company, granting them the right to use this system for training in the sphere of state-of-the-art design technologies applied to design electronic devices, antennas and electromagnetic compatibility of systems and others.
