Announcement of Winners of Kazan-City Contest in the Russian Language among International Students

A solemn ceremony of announcement of winners in the Contest held in the Russian language among international students of higher education institutions of Kazan-city was organized today, on the 11th of April, in the Museum of History of Kazan University.

The Committee for Children’s and Youth Affairs of the Exe­cutive committee of Kazan-city together with departments of Russian as a Foreign Language, available in higher education institutions, were the event organizers.

The ceremony began with a musical congratulation offered by actors of the Russian Song group supervised by Julia Ziganshina. The group participants – that is, international students – feelingly sang the song “Podmoskovniye Vechera”, well-known all over the world.  After that the head of the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language, Ms. Tatyana Bochina, who conducted the ceremony, told the audience about the contest itself and its traditions. Students from Poland, China, Germany, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Congo and other countries participated in the contest this year. “We strongly hope that the Russian language will become a part of your life for many years, because the language is a kind of bridge between nations, which will help you to better understand Russians and Russian culture,” – said Ms. Bochina, welcoming the participants.

The winners were rewarded by the head of the Department of work with higher education institutions, specialized secondary schools and youth organisations of the Committee for Children’s and Youth Affairs of the Exe­cutive committee of Kazan-city, Mr. Ayrat Faizov, and the Director of the International Affairs Office of KFU, Mr. Andrey Krylov.

So, who has won the contest?

As regards international students:

Grand Prix in the Contest was awarded to the student of KFU, Ptshak Annet Veslava (Poland);

The first place was won by the student of KFU, Chjun Syaolin (China).

As regards students representing CIS countries:

The first place – the student of KFU, Yekaterina Malyarova (Kazakhstan).

Furthermore, the contest determined winners in such nominations as:

“The Best Communicator” – Ntsumu Ryut Shelton;

“Master of Ad-Lib” – Khamra Rabia;

“The Best Composition” – Zilyara Karimova;

“Active Participation in Discussion and Philosophical Approach to Problems” – Sevan Avalyan.

During the ceremony Yekaterina Malyarova demonstrated her creative abilities in a fortunate way: she recited the poem “Slovo” (The Word) by Ivan Bunin in a very expressive manner. “I would like to thank you for the opportunity to study the Russian language and develop ourselves. But I think it’s impossible to master it up to the nines!” sincerely confessed the girl at the end of her address.

The guest of this event, the President of the International Students Association in Kazan, Adeni Adebayo, addressed himself to the participants with the following declaration: “The Russian language is one of the most difficult and rich languages in the world. Thanks to it all those who have come here from different countries are sitting now in this hall, communicating with each other, and we understand each other! And this contest is only the start for a good, favourable way that you are going to follow. To study a new language means to open a new world for oneself. And the Russian language is the world of the great Russian culture.”
