Invited report and two presentations by LIRS employees at the VIII International Conference on Automation, Robotics and Applications

Employees of the Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems (LIRS) of the  Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems (ITIS) KFU take an active part in the VIII International Conference on Automation, Robotics and Applications (ICARA 2022), which takes place from 18 until February 20 remotely due to the current epidemiological situation.

ICARA is an annual scientific forum for researchers, scientists and engineers to present their latest scientific results, ideas, developments and applications in all aspects of automation, robotics and sensors. The ICARA conference includes keynote speeches by eminent scientists, as well as plenary, special and regular presentation sessions.

This year at the conference, LIRS employees  present two scientific papers prepared with collaborators from Ritsumeikan University , Trapeznikov Institute of Control Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IPU RAS), the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez (Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez) and the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

LIRS Research Associate and 4th year postgraduate student Tatyana Tsoy presents research paper on the topic:

"Exhaustive simulation approach for a virtual camera calibration evaluation in Gazebo". Authors: Tatyana Tsoy, Ramil Safin, Edgar A. Martinez-Garcia, Sumantra Dutta Roy, Subir Kumar Saha, Evgeni Magid.

LIRS laboratory Research Assistant and graduate of the Master's program "Intelligent Robotics" Alexandra Dobrokvashina presents paper on the topic:

"Servosila Engineer Crawler Robot Modeling in Webots Simulator". Authors: Alexandra Dobrokvashina, Roman Lavrenov, Evgeni Magid, Yang Bai, Mikhail Svinin, Roman Meshcheryakov.

As an invited speaker at the ICARA 2022 conference, a report on search and rescue robotics during earthquakes, floods and landslides will be made by the head of LIRS and professor of the Department of Intelligent Robotics Evgeny Magid. The report describes typical scenarios for urban search and rescue operations and the problems that arise in such scenarios. Evgeni will present a new international structure aimed at supporting effective disaster response using heterogeneous robotic teams and an information collection system for disaster site management. This system is currently being developed by a joint group of leading scientists from Japan, Russia and Thailand, each of whom contributes their unique experience and expertise to achieve aim of the study.
