On June 21-23, the International Conference on Mechanical, System and Control Engineering (ICMSC 2018) was held in Moscow. The purpose of the conference is to provide the participants with research papers and an opportunity for professional interaction in technical sciences and joint research. The event was attended by representatives of the industry and the academic community from China, Indonesia, Norway, Russia and other countries.

A Junior Researcher of the Laboratory of intelligent robotic systems (LIRS) of the Higher Institute of Information Technology and Information Systems (ITIS) of Kazan Federal University (KFU), Leysan Sabirova, presented a paper on the topic:

"Effective Robotics Education: Surveying Experiences of Master Program Students in Introduction to Robotics Course".

The paper describes a robotics profile launched in 2017 as part of the master's program "Software Engineering" of the Higher Institute of ITIS. The authors present an analysis of the results of a series of surveys conducted among students of the course "Introduction to Robotics".

"We started this research before the launch of the master's program in robotics. We conducted a series of pilot surveys among 3- and 4-year undergraduate students, who studied the courses "Fundamentals of Robotics" and "Introduction to Robotics" at the Higher Institute of ITIS of KFU. Further, in September 2017 we conducted surveys after the program launch among students of the Master's degree in robotics. We teach robotics at a global level, based on the rich international experience of our teachers in the academy and industry. In order to regularly improve the courses of the master's degree in robotics, we conduct surveys among students, as it is important for us to hear critical opinions and rational suggestions from students to take into account the peculiarities of each generation of young people, who comes to study on our program. The survey results allowed us to find out interesting facts about the students' experience and their interest in robotics. We were interested in how students perceive the material and the foreign-built learning system in the classroom, how they integrate new knowledge into the system of their previous skills and experience, how they use additional materials on the topics of classes and how necessary it is for them, which topics are most interesting to them, and so on. By the way, all subjects of the Master's degree in robotics are taught in English, and we are very pleased with the level of students' proficiency in English. The information received will be useful for further improving the program and increasing the motivation of students to study this area. This is our third scientific paper in an international conference related to the process of teaching robotics at Kazan Federal University. It is important for us to share our experience with our colleagues from different countries at this conference in order to hear useful comments and questions about the Master's degree in robotics and specifically our research", - says Leysan Sabirova.
