The ambassadors are paying an extensive visit to Tatarstan from April 12 to 16.
Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda Johnson Agara Olwa, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya Benson Henry Ouma Ogutu, Ambassador of the Republic Mike Nicholas Sango and their colleagues were accompanied by Vice-Rector for International Timirkhan Alishev and Counsellor to the Rector Linar Latypov.
The guests toured the University’s History Museum and listened to a brief presentation by Dr. Alishev.
At this moment, only six students from the three countries combined are enrolled in KFU, and all the sides seek to significantly increase the number.
“This is my first to Kazan University and Kazan. Kazan is one of the most important centers of Russia,” shared Ambassador Ogutu. “Education is the groundwork for development. We seek to expand the presence of our students here.”
KFU is implementing a roadmap of cooperation with African countries. Among the most large-scale events are International Forum Russia-Africa: Politics, Economy, History and Culture, Africa Day Festival, and Mosaic of Peoples Festival.
Ambassador Olwa is the only of today’s guests to have already paid a visit to KFU in 2018. He noted, “There is no better education than education in Russia. You have provided many opportunities to African students since Soviet times.”
During their ongoing trip, the visitors have talked with President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and have already held a number of meetings with local industrialists.
