KFU student Aygul Shakirova wins Tatar language talent pageant Yaz Guzale 2021

The finals took place in Kazan on April 7.

This was the 12th contest under this name (which stands for ‘Spring Beauty’); this year’s iteration was organized by Kazan State Power Engineering University.

The contest aims to promote Tatar culture and traditions, preserve and popularize Tatar language, support proactive lifestyles, patriotism, physical and intellectual well-being of young women and girls.

KFU’s Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication presented a little expo on Tatar language during the event.

The winner, Aygul Shakirova, commented, “I found out about the competition from my friends in 2019. In 2020, I applied for the event, but it was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic. Thankfully, this time everything turned out for the best, and I advanced to the finals.”

Preparations, according to Shakirova, were very intense and exciting and included classes in acting, culinary arts, and dancing. Long hours were dedicated to rehearsals and shoots.

The finals consisted of three stages: a video self-presentation, a runway walk in sportswear, and a creative contest (such as dancing, singing, or poem recital).

“For a long time I’ve been fond of translating Russian songs into Tatar language. Today, I performed one such song,” shared the winner.

She thanked her family and friends for their support.
