Dorm accommodation questions discussed at University

The meeting was held on 4 March.

All the interested parties were present for the discussion, among them employees of institutes, International Office, Department for Youth Affairs, representatives of student councils and dorm councils, Association of International Students, and others.

After some deliberation, the sides agreed to put forth for the following criteria to be factored in for decisions to accommodate students:

- academic performance;

- online activities in education and research;

- activities in extracurricular events (arts, sports, volunteering, etc.);

- online activities in social outreach;

- proposed startups and projects in events and youth policies.

Freshmen, who don’t have all of the above to submit for obvious reasons, can show other achievements and commendations. This doesn’t pertain to international freshmen, though, who are automatically accommodated at dorms if they so wish.

Vice-Rector for Social Work and Student Affairs Arif Mezhvedilov noted that such meetings should be more frequent in order to streamline a more comprehensive mutual understanding between the management and the student body.
