Laboratory of intelligent robotic systems participated at the Research and Practice Conference dedicated to the memory of the Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences K. Valiev

On January 15, 2021 the Laboratory of intelligent robotic systems (LIRS) of the Institute of Information Technology and Information Systems (ITIS) of KFU was invited to participate in the All-Russian Research and Practice Conference "Best Practices of General and Additional Education in Natural Science and Technical Disciplines", dedicated to the memory of the Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences K. Valiev. Kamil Valiev was a Tatar scientist, academician, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, scientific director of the Institute of Physics and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. A memorial plaque was installed on the facade of the main building of the Institute of Psychology and Education of the KFU in his memory, which is historical for the university and the city; Kamil Valiev had been working as an assistant at this building, then as an associate professor and a Head of the Physics Department of the Kazan Pedagogical Institute.

A Head of the LIRS, Professor Evgeni Magid, presented a report on the topic: "Training of highly qualified personnel of the global level for the industry robotization of the Russian Federation". In his report, Professor Magid noted that modern robotics in Russia lacks qualified personnel and it must adapt to the rapid development of technology and the various requirements of employers. The professor presented the master's program in intelligent robotics, which is aimed at reducing the shortage of specialists and creating a knowledge base in the field of robotics, noting that in order to achieve the necessary result, it is very important to receive feedback from students and monitor the effectiveness of education. That’s why the LIRS staff constantly monitors the dynamics of motivation, satisfaction and professional success of students. Evgeni Magid spoke about the results of an anonymous survey of students of the program on studying the effectiveness of education in the master's program "Intelligent Robotics".

A LIRS employee Liliya Gavrilova presented a report on the topic: "Pre-school education of the future: an experimental integration of a small-sized anthropomorphic robot into the English language program in kindergarten". The report was devoted to a study on the introduction of an anthropomorphic robot in the process of learning English by pre-school children.

Liliya Gavrilova shared her impression on the conference: "This is the first time I participated at the pedagogical conference. In general, the event gave me a pleasant impression. It was interesting to listen to the reports of scientists, specialists in the field of pedagogy and psychology of education, practitioners of educational institutions, as well as to share the results of their two-year research".
