Winners of Russian Presidential Research Grants for 2021 announced

The grants amount to 1.2 million rubles for PhDs and 2 million rubles for DSc degree holders.

Kazan Federal University, as usual, has several grant recipients. The only winner in the DSc category is Igor Sedov (Department of Physical Chemistry) for his project ‘Proton ion liquids – new highly effective extragents.’

Here are the winners in the PhD category:

Anastasiya Nazarova, Organic Compounds Lab – ‘New generation of plant protection compounds: low-toxicity supramolecular systems for effective and safe use of herbicides’;

Elza Sultanova, Department of Organic Chemistry – ‘Supramolecular and polymer systems based on thia/calixarenes in creating photocatalytic active composites’;

Yekaterina Garanina, Gene and Cell Technologies Lab – ‘The role of micro-RNA miR-223 in the regulation of NLRP3 signaling in colorectal cancer’;

Valeriya Solovyova, Department of Genetics – ‘Biomedical cell product to treat Tay-Sachs diseases’;

Yelena Trizna, Department of Genetics – ‘Extracellular microbial metabolites – modulators of the susceptibility of bacteria to antimicrobial medications’;

Artur Gafurov, Space Ecology Lab – ‘System of automated large-scale mapping of trickle soil erosion in the Middle Volga region’;

Yelena Tutubalina, Chemoinformatics and Molecular Modeling Lab – ‘Automated methods of extracting information from texts of biomedical nature based on multi-language vector representations of words and multitask learning’;

Yana Mukhamedshina, Gene and Cell Technologies Lab – ‘Characteristics of the surface compartment of neurons at different distances from the epicenter of a spinal cord injury’;

Dilyara Kuzina, Paleoclimatology, Paleoecology and Paleomagnetism Lab – ‘Evaluations of the flows of extraterrestrial matter on Earth in the last millennia based on lake sediment studies.’
