Students of the Laboratory of intelligent robotic systems for the fourth year in a row become laureates of the contest 'Student of the year of KFU – 2020'

On December 22, a ceremony of awarding the winners and laureates of the annual contest "Student of the year of KFU – 2020" took place at the Grand Hall of the cultural and sports complex "UNICS" of KFU, dedicated to honoring students, who have good academic results and take an active part in the scientific, social, sports and cultural life of the University. The ceremony was opened by the rector of Kazan University Ilshat Gafurov.

This year about 240 portfolios were sent to the judges of the competition, which include the main achievements of students, as well as public organizations and associations.

The award ceremony was held in several stages, covering such sections as" Student initiative"," Social activity"," Intellectual and scientific activity", "Sports"," Social activity", "Best teacher ". A total of 24 nominations were announced.

Students of the Laboratory of intelligent robotic systems (LIRS) of the Institute of Information Technology and Intelligent Systems (ITIS) of KFU took part in the competition and won laureate awards for the fourth year in a row. Bulat Abbyasov, a first-year student of the master's program "Intelligent robotics" and an employee of LIRS, was awarded the title of laureate in the nomination "Best master's student in the field of Natural and Physical & Mathematical Sciences". Ramil Safin, a first-year postgraduate student and an employee of the LIRS, also won a laureate award in the nomination "Best postgraduate student in the field of Natural and Physical & Mathematical Sciences".

In addition, the winners of the Kazan Mayor scholarship competition were awarded at the event. Ramil became one of the winners. During the scientific and practical conference held within the full-time stage in the section "Digital and information technologies", Ramil presented his project "Algorithm of visual-inertial SLAM for a multi-camera system without a common scope".

Ramil Safin shared his impressions after the award ceremony of the contest "Student of the year of KFU-2020" and awarding the scholarship winners: "I hoped to win the “Student of the year” contest. Despite the defeat, I am glad I became the winner of the Mayor's scholarship competition and received a monetary reward. I'm planning to continue applying for various competitions and scholarships next year".
