International School on Second World War attracted 1,800 students from 20 countries

The event took place on 15 – 19 December 2020.

The School was co-held by Kazan Federal University (Institute of International Relations), Institute of Cultural Heritage and Management, and Bolgar Museum Reserve. It was sponsored by the Russian Representative Office at the Council of Europe, Russian Historical Society, and History of Fatherland Foundation.

International participants joined from France, Bulgaria, Belarus, Benin, Colombia, Peru, China, Indonesia, Turkey, India, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

Chairman of Russian Historical Society Sergey Naryshkin noted the importance of spreading full and verified information about the Second World War, of using its lessons to build moral frameworks in international politics.

Leading Russian historians, museum workers, archivists, and academics presented their views on the current state of affairs in the historiography and historical memory of the Second World War during the five days of the conference.

Director of the Institute of International Relations Ramil Khayrutdinov noted that the School must beget a continuation in various formats in cooperation with Russian Historical Society.
