Two KFU students receive annual awards from Kazan Volunteers

Current student Aygul Kasimova and recent alumnus Wang Haiyang were the winners.

The online ceremony on 18 December was held by Minister of Sports of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Sports and Social Projects of Tatarstan Alexander Karpov, and Chairman of Kazan Volunteers Ayrat Mubarakshin.

This year, understandably, the vast majority of volunteer activities were linked with the COVID pandemic, particularly the My Vmeste (We Are Together) initiative. Within its framework, volunteers delivered food and necessities to vulnerable groups of citizens, such as single senior persons and disabled individuals.

Wang Haiyang, a 2020 alumnus, was awarded in the Always Ready nomination for the biggest number of volunteer activities in a calendar year.

Aygul Kasimova was commended as Team Leader of the Year.

The volunteer movement was institutionalized in Tatarstan in 2009. Since then, local activists have partaken in over 600 events of various levels.
