Memorandum of understanding signed with National Human Resources Development Institute of the Republic of Korea

The video conference with Korean colleagues was held on 25 November.

The event was attended by Chief of Staff of the President of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov and Rector of Kazan University Ilshat Gafurov, who both served as co-signatories from the Tatarstani side.

In his welcome speech, Asgat Safarov said that the memorandum opens doors for further development of public administration and humanitarian ties between Tatarstan and South Korea.

Rector Gafurov noted that KFU has long been on the forefront of education for public servants and is eager to support such programs through deeper understanding of international experience. The University established its Center for Korean Studies in 2007; every year, 30 to 40 South Korean students arrive to study and intern here. He emphasized the importance of the expertise that Korean educators have in digitization of public services, something that is also very much the center of attention in the Republic of Tatarstan.

NHI President Park Chon-ran thanked everyone for the ongoing collaboration and outlined the potential for further joint work.

In November 2019, representatives of Tatarstan visited the NHRDI and agreed to sign a comprehensive document on cooperation. Earlier, in August 2019, contributions to this negotiation were also made by the delegation of WorldSkills Korea attending the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 tournament.

KFU’s Higher School of Public Administration will continue to serve as the coordinating center for the implementation of the memorandum.
