Best science clubs of the year awarded at Kazan University

The ceremony was held online on 12 November.

As one of the biggest universities in the nation, KFU has lots of opportunities for students to apply their talents. Naturally, one of the most popular ways is science. Every year, a ceremony is organized to honor the most productive and successful of them.

This year, a surgery club was recognized as the best in the ‘Natural and Technological Sciences’ category. The club is coordinated by Professor Sergey Zinchenko, Head of Surgery at the University Clinic. The second place went Eureka Bureau, an engineering club from the Yelabuga Institute (headed by Professor Linar Akhmetov). Society of Petroleum Engineering Student Chapter finished third (supervised by Associate Professor Vladislav Sudakov).

In humanities and social sciences, Archeological Club Ok was the winner (headed by Associate Professor Leonid Vyazov). Second place was awarded to Globus Club (supervised by Associate Professor Oleg Bodrov). The third place went to Istok (Outlet) Club of the Yelabuga Institute in teacher education (supervised by Associate Professor Nadezhda Savina).

Vice-Rector for Social Work and Student Affairs Arif Mezhvedilov noted, “We have to add youth drive to this work. It’s necessary to utilize the full potential of our students, uniting efforts of our vice-rectors for science and youth affairs, as well as other employees engaged in this field. Education, science and tutorship are the main pillars of our university.”

He promised that future award ceremonies for science clubs will be held with more fanfare, including even arts performances. Depending on the circumstances, this can happen as early as Russian Student Day, 25 January.
