Record number of freshmen applied for volunteer programs

A big presentation of volunteering options was organized by Department for Youth Affairs.

KFU Volunteer Center has been active for many years, and this time it saw the record number of applications from freshmen – 256. Unfortunately, all of them could not attend the presentation at the same time because of the epidemic restrictions.

The invited students toured several presentational stands. In particular, ‘Making Cleaner,’ an environmental initiative, gives opportunities to partake in cleaning the city and surroundings. A lecture on rational consumption was given to them.

Another stand described donorship opportunities. KFU is one of the leaders in this area, having been chosen as the headquarters of the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry.

‘Kindness Online’ is a general outreach initiative for students. In light of the existing circumstances, much attention at the presentation was paid to volunteer activities on online platforms, such as social networks and video conferencing software. Among the activities mentioned at the tour, there was work with disadvantaged children, senior citizens, animals, and popularization of healthy lifestyles.

Finally, a little team game was conducted. Future volunteers had to draw a paper from a hat and propose a solution for the psychological case they received. This proved to be very exciting for the participants.
