Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin reminisced about his student years

On 7 November, he visited the University to shoot an episode of My Alma Mater, a new show produced by UNIVER TV.

The Mayor spoke about the influence that his student years had on him. In particular, he said that he absolutely would choose KFU again if presented with such an opportunity, “And my children followed my steps as well and chose the University. When I was a student, I was like everyone – there was some mischief, some problematic exams, and some arts performances. I even was under threat of expelling from the Uni during my first year. But it’s important to learn from your experience and to be industrious in self-improvement.”

His personal life is also linked to KFU – he got married to a classmate and became a father here. To this day, Ilsur Metshin makes valuable contributions to alma mater’s life. He is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Faculty of Law and a member of the Board of Trustees of KFU.

When asked whether he would like to get behind the stand as a teacher (Metshin has a PhD in law), the interviewee lamented his lack of spare time; yet, he didn’t deny that it could become possible in the future.

In conclusion, the Mayor noted, “The skills that I acquired here are really useful for life, and I am endlessly grateful to my university educators for that.”
