Sophomore student Farida Gazimova invites people to collect and give away discarded tyres.

This project is funded by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs.

Gazimova explains, “I am an activist of a local environmental nonprofit community. Local people in Kazan often ask where to deliver their recyclables, including tyres. We didn’t find a place in the city to make this free of charge, so we decided to take the matter into our own hands.”

The first activity was held on 1 November. 34 local inhabitants and 5 volunteers collected over a hundred tyres, and 125 more were found at nearby dump sites. The next event is scheduled for 8 November. Two recyclable collection companies in Kazan agreed to accept tyres free of charge until 30 November.
