Laboratory of intelligent robotic systems presented its projects on the international forum Kazan Digital Week 2020

From 21 to 24 September 2020, Kazan hosted the online international forum “Kazan Digital Week 2020”. The mission of this event is to create an annual platform for scientific, technical and commercial communication of developers and users of technologies, products and services of digital transformation. This event is an exceptional opportunity to create a new international market for smart mobility facilities, systems and communications.

Higher Institute of Information Technologies and Intelligent Systems (ITIS) of Kazan Federal University (KFU) took part in the final day of the forum and presented two laboratories, one of which is the Laboratory of intelligent robotic systems (LIRS). A Head of the laboratory professor Evgeni Magid briefly spoke about the creation of the Intelligent Robotics Department, the laboratory staff and robots. LIRS makes great results in writing scientific articles: during the existence of the laboratory, more than 150 scientific papers have been published.

In addition, the professor mentioned research projects implemented at the LIRS. Currently two projects are being implemented: autonomous calibration of coordinate markers and search and rescue robotics. Bachelor and master degree students also carry out projects based on working with robots: a recognition of road signs, an interaction of UAVs and UGVs, a route planning for robots, a person following robot and an autonomous mapping of premises.

Also the senior lecturer Roman Lavrenov participated in the event as a laboratory representative. At the youth discussion on intellectual transport systems Roman gave a speech about the relevance of this topic, as well as spoke about the advantages and opportunities of national international forums.
