Laboratory of intelligent robotic systems was awarded a grant of Russian Foundation for Basic Research

An employee of the Laboratory of intelligent robotic systems (LIRS) of the Higher Institute of Information technologies and intelligent systems (ITIS) of KFU and a third-year post-graduate student in the field of "System analysis, management and information processing" of the Higher Institute of ITIS Tatyana Tsoy won a grant competition of Russian Foundation for Basic Research among post-graduate students for the best projects of basic scientific research carried out by young scientists studying in graduate school. «Development of a new calibration template and calibration algorithm for the mobile robot's onboard cameras» project will be implemented within 2 years on the basis of LIRS under the academic advising of professor Evgeni Magid.

The two-year project will result in a new calibration template and calibration algorithm that will allow on-board cameras calibration to be performed more efficiently than using the classic approach. This template will be integrated with the results of previous projects, which will allow using the new template not only for manual calibration, but also for offline calibration. There are plans to develop software program consisting of an autonomous calibration module using a new template, which will be integrated into the control system of the robot "Servosila Engineer".
