World Chess Champion Anatoly Karpov toured Kazan University

The guest arrived on 13th August.

Anatoly Karpov was accompanied by his spouse Natalia Bulanova, Deputy of the State Duma Ildar Gilmutdinov, and First Vice-Rector of KFU Riyaz Minzaripov. The delegation visited Lobachevsky Museum, History Museum, and the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology. Director of the KFU Museum Complex Svetlana Frolova conducted the museum excursions.

Mr. Karpov left a short message in the University’s guestbook about the Lobachevsky Museum, “It’s wonderful how carefully and respectfully the memory of our compatriot and the greatest mathematician of the 19th century and all the history is preserved here. Much gratitude.”

In the History Museum, the visitor commented, “I’d like to have as much time as possible to get acquainted with the university in more detail. Kazan University is one of the most well-known universities of our country. Many prominent individuals have studied here. It’s a great honor to visit Kazan University.”
