Kazan Federal University moves to second stage of COVID-19 vaccine testing

Lab mice are currently the focus of the ongoing research.

As Director of the Center for Precision and Regenerative Medicine Albert Rizvanov explains, the results of the second stage of immunization will be available in early August. Concurrently, the team prepares a second version of the vaccine to test on lab animals.

KFU regularly sends reports to the Government of Russia. As Dr. Rizvanov notes, this work is really an invaluable experience poised to provide the basis for other antiviral research in the future.

“Vaccines shaped the humankind as we see it today. Life expectancy was once low because of widespread infectious diseases. Historically, vaccination has proven its effectiveness and safety,” he adds.

Kazan University is also working on a test strip project to detect COVID-19 antibodies.
