President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited Preparatory School facilities

On 15th July, the President toured the historical center of the city of Kazan, making a stop at the KFU campus.

The building at 25 Kremlyovskaya street is a historical heritage site with long history. It’s been transferred to Kazan Federal University in 2015.

Yesterday, Rector Ilshat Gafurov and Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Timirkhan Alishev showed the President around the renovated rooms and hallways of the Prep School. As per the President’s order, comprehensive renovations started here in 2019, including heating, water supply, electricity, communications, and interior and exterior design.

Rector Gafurov noted that about 600 international students are currently enrolled in preparatory programs at KFU, which constitutes the majority of such individuals in all the universities of Kazan.

The School teaches Russian and English language and basics of other subjects to those who plan to continue their education in Russia. Rector Gafurov expressed hope that the educational process will receive a good boost from the renovations.

President Minnikhanov replied that the completed work is of very high quality and that the students should be comfortable there.

KFU’s Preparatory School was established in 2004 and welcomed 50 overseas students. In the last four years, over 1,000 students graduated from it. They end up enrolling in tertiary programs in all of KFU’s institutes. At this moment, Prep School offers nine programs in various subjects.
