On 2nd July, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Timirkhan Alishev gave some numbers regarding the taken measures.

Among the national representative offices he mentioned as the most active in providing help to students are Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China, General Consulate of Turkish Republic, and national cultural autonomy of Azerbaijan.

Chinese and Turkish consulates both provided help packages two times during April – June and covered all their respective compatriots studying at Kazan Federal University.

The Chinese government included medical masks, disinfection sprays, wet wipes and drugs into their packages, as well as information brochures and some snacks. The Consulate of Turkey also gave groceries and protective wear to Turkish students. National cultural autonomy of Azerbaijan provided groceries.

Among the other organizations which provided assistance were national cultural autonomies of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan, the Union of Arab Students of Tatarstan, and Vietnamese Unity Society. Consulate General of Uzbekistan, apart from giving out groceries, also provided financial aid to over a hundred students.

On its side, Kazan University has implemented numerous measures during the self-isolation period. Dorm payments for the month of April were cancelled for all students. Since 15th April, there have been four waves of grocery giveaways to all international students in dorms. Over 16 thousand packages have been distributed in total.

Quite a large number of students plan to stay in dorms this summer, including 2,300 in Kazan, 934 in Yelabuga, and 720 in Naberezhnye Chelny.
