New isolation facility to be prepared at the Universiade Village, grocery handouts start today

The University should be ready for all scenarios, said Rector Ilshat Gafurov at a briefing today.

In other news, the University started distributing grocery packages to all the 7,800 dorm inhabitants. The package includes rice, mayonnaise, ketchup, pasta, 5 kg of potatoes, sugar, bagged tea, laundry detergent, cleaning agent, and liquid soap. If such a need arises, there may be further handouts.

As for the inpatient facility, all students with symptoms of cold should be placed within the Universiade Village dorm complex, said the Rector. The facility will be based at the IT Lyceum dormitory.

“We must be ready for any development. Those who live in dorms, should they fall ill, cannot self-isolate even if they wanted to. That’s why we have to prepare the infrastructure for such students. It’s important that they receive high-quality and timely help,” he emphasized.

Institute directors are tasked with overseeing the state of health among students and employees, and they report every day.

As of today, noted Dr. Gafurov, dorm inhabitants are less prone to respiratory diseases than those who self-isolate at home. That’s why the latter should stay home as long as possible before returning to the dorms, he concluded.
