Extraordinary meeting with University Clinic ward chiefs held by Rector Ilshat Gafurov

Measures to combat COVID-19 were discussed on 23rd March.

The sides talked about new proposals for the prioritization of budget funding – Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin asked to put them forth before 26th March. In particular, medical establishments will be exempt from regular purchase procedures during the special pandemic regime.

“Currently, the attitude toward the novel coronavirus is changing at pace with its propagation and the growth of deceased patients, as well as the growth of the workload of medical facilities. I invited you today to jointly work on solution to minimize current threats and model different situations for tomorrow,” said the Rector.

According to Chief Medical Officer Sergey Osipov’s report, the University Clinic currently owns 24 lung ventilators, 40 respiratory circuits, and 218 breathing filters. 200 more filters should be delivered in the next few days, and over 1,000 more are in the process of being purchased. Existing contracts are in place with overseas suppliers of medical equipment.

Osipov also informed that the Clinic has all the necessary medications for the next 3 months, and new purchases are planned. There is also a reserve of face masks, hazmat suits and medical gowns.

Dr. Gafurov ordered Dr. Osipov to monitor and give recommendations on the purchases of necessary equipment and medications and to provide daily briefings on financial needs.
