The meeting took place in Moscow on 17th March.
Dr. Gafurov and Minister Matytsin were joined by Deputy of the State Duma Ildar Gilmutdinov.
On behalf of the University, Rector Gafurov put forth several proposals to develop student sports and organize national competitions for non-sports universities of Russia. Among them was the University Spartakiad of Russia.
A Spartakiad in Russia is a traditional student multi-sports event akin to an Olympiad. Traditionally, student competitions admit undergraduates, graduates and postgraduates under 25 years of age.
