Candidate and doctor diplomas given away at Kazan Federal University

The ceremony was held on 11th March.

Rector Ilshat Gafurov said in his opening remarks, “From this day, the handover of diplomas will always be solemn, because this is a significant event in a person’s life. We were among the first of the 29 universities which were given the authority to bestow in-house Candidate of Sciences [PhD] and Doctor of Sciences [DSc] diplomas.”

Since September 2017, some of the top-rated Russian universities have been authorized to conduct conferment procedures for both highest scientific degrees without the involvement from the Higher Attestation Commission.

Yesterday, 12 researchers received their PhD diplomas and 1 was given her DSc diploma.

Currently, KFU comprises 41 dissertation boards, of which 40 are in-house and 1 is shared with Kazan National Research Technological University.

In January 2019 – February 2020, 40 dissertations, including 36 PhD and 4 DSc, were presented to those dissertation boards.
