The decision was published on 2nd March.
The prize is given for the museumification projects of the Bolgar State Historical and Archaeological Complex and Sviyazhsk City Island. Kazan Federal University was heavily involved in both. Apart from Rector Gafurov (concept author), the awardees are State Counselor of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev (project lead) and Chairperson of the Russian National Commission for UNESCO Grigory Ordzhonikidze (expert group lead).
According to the prize statute, the awards are given for notable pieces of literature, painting, decorative arts, music, theater, circus, architecture and design, and audiovisual arts, as well as for cultural enlightenment activities and projects for kids and the youth.
