Delegation of Bukhara Region, Uzbekistan, at Kazan Federal University

A big team of officials and businesspersons, headed by Governor Uktam Barnoev, visited on 25th February.

The guests visited the History Museum and went to the Emperor Hall to speak to Uzbekistani students. A memorandum of understanding was then signed by Rector Ilshat Gafurov and Rector of Bukhara State Medical Institute Amrillo Inoyatov.

In his welcome speech at the Emperor Hall, Rector Gafurov noted, “In the last years, our cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan has increased in orders of magnitude. We are talking about economic cooperation, cultural ties, and integration in education and science.”

Currently, 2,750 Uzbekistani students call Kazan University their home, and this is the largest number of international students from any country – and more than a quarter of the total international student body at the University. Among them, 59 nine students are from Bukhara Region.

In 2019, over 50 KFU employees visited Uzbekistan, some of them more than once. Since 2017, the Uni has been cooperating with Uzbekistani colleagues in the UNESCO Silk Road project.

Governor (Khokim) of Bukhara Region Uktam Barnoev said, “Policies of Uzbekistan have changed significantly in many areas. There are many reforms in social policy, education, and economy. There are also some initiatives considering our higher education.”

After the memorandum was signed, the visitors moved to the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology to get acquainted with the infrastructure, including the Simulation and Accreditation Center.

At the University Clinic, which is adjacent to the Institute, the delegation looked at the workflow and listened to a brief presentation of new clinical practices.

Negotiations were held about providing educational opportunities in geology, chemistry, economics, and automotive industry to Bukharian students.
