Head of Software Channel EMEA Ralph de Wargny and Business Development Manager Olga Andrianova talked with Rector Ilshat Gafurov and other employees on 19th February.
Ralph de Wargny spoke about new trends in Intel’s software development and showed new solutions and products.
Rector Gafurov mentioned KFU’s projects where those products can be of use, “Today, every structural unit of KFU has its own center for digital technology tasked with developing and implementing the digitization of education and research. It’s important for us from get-go to correctly determine objectives and tasks and our needs for software and hardware purchases.”
Ms. Andrianova reacted, “We are ready to provide our labs for researchers and educators to conduct work. We can also offer lectures and seminars to students and teachers. This will particularly be of interest for mathematicians, bio-informaticians, and geophysicists. I want to also mention our academic program targeted towards joint work with academic departments.”
Vice-Rector for Research Danis Nurgaliev informed the guests about the ongoing research projects in machine learning and AI. He noted that digitization is a priority, and that’s why EcoOil, an interdisciplinary strategic research unit of Kazan University, employs mathematicians, physicists and geologists together.
“With Tatneft, we’ve developed software based on neural networks to analyze geophysical data from well samples. It’s a huge database,” he said.
“Our mathematicians also work on integrating machine learning and AI into detecting faults in integral circuits. Intel already has some solutions that we can use in our work. And our Center for Advanced Training at the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies offers programs which employ leading experts and developers,” added Dr. Nurgaliev.
The executives of Intel expressed their keen interest in geological and biomedical research at KFU.
