The medal is to celebrate the 100 years of the founding of Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (20 March 1919).

After the celebrations wound down, the government of Bashkortostan decided to commend those who had made contributions to various areas of the province’s life. One of them happens to be Riyaz Minzaripov.

“On behalf of the government and administration of our Republic I would like to give this medal to Riyaz Minzaripov for his large-scale and fruitful work of educating the younger generations. We are glad that many young people from our region enroll in your university, receive quality education and return home as wonderful professionals. We are very content with the work done by your university,” said the awarding delegate, Professor Gali Galiev, Chairman of the Eurasian Association of Sociologists, Professor at Ufa State Petroleum Technological University.

“I serve Russia, science and education,” replied the awardee in his usual concise manner.
