Times Higher Education Digital Transformation Forum at Kazan Federal University

The official opening ceremony took place on the second day of the forum, 27th November.

Rector Ilshat Gafurov addressed the attendees with a keynote, in which he, in particular, said, “Thanks to our participation in federal projects and programs, we are actively expanding our infrastructure. Over 30 billion rubles have been invested in the university from various sources in the last five years. During that time, more than 200 laboratories and 12 excellence centers have been established. All that reflects positively on our reputation and brand awareness, and progress in international rankings attests to that. The most significant was achieved in Times Higher Education rankings. Specifically, in Education subject rankings we are now 94th in the world.”

The Ministry of Education and Science of Tatarstan acts as a co-host of the forum. Minister Rafis Burganov also stepped up to the stage today with his welcome, “We are pleased that the city of Kazan was chosen to host such a forum for the second time. The capital of our Republic is quick to digitize its life, which contributes to the gross regional product growth. Digitization is a very important element of our work.”

Phil Baty, THE Chief Knowledge Officer, noted, “Kazan University has immersed itself into digitization, and we are thankful for the opportunity to hold the forum in Kazan.”

The event will close in the afternoon of 27th November.
