Minister of Enlightenment Olga Vasilyeva visited the Russian Convention of History and Social Studies Teachers at Kazan University

The event also included the 3rd Convention of History and Social Studies Teachers of Tatarstan.

“In the President of Russia's May 2018 decrees he tasked Russian education with being globally competitive and entering the top 10 nations in the world with regards to education and upbringing quality. We all want for the changes in our educational system to be weighted and reasonable, and such meeting will be fruitful for that purpose,” said Olga Vasilyeva in her greeting.

In his welcome discourse, Rector Ilshat Gafurov reminded that the forum coincides with KFU's 215th anniversary. He mentioned that teacher education is one of the priorities for KFU, and there are currently 8,000 students enrolled in respective programs. The University's hard work has paid off, as it is currently number 94 in THE Education subject rankings, said Dr. Gafurov.

Director of the Institute of International Relations Ramil Khayrutdinov told that KFU cooperates methodically with the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the fact that this Russian forum of teachers is hosted here for the second time can be partly attributed to those efforts.

Before the plenary session, Minister Vasilyeva visited the Institute of Psychology and Education of KFU. There, she toured the facilities of EduTech, a new teaching practice center equipped with top-notch technology for advanced education techniques. Over 25 hardware and software producers act as contractors for this facility. The Situation Center, another new structural unit of the University, is dedicated to systemic analytics of the global technological and methodological landscape in education. The Minister also witnessed how professional and advanced training of teachers is conducted.
