Representatives of two Syrian universities arrived to the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies on 12th November.
Arab University of Science and Technology (AUST) was represented by President Mohammed Yahya Mualla; Al Baath University (ABU) dispatched Professor Abdul Razzak Al Sufi. Notably, Professor Al Sufi received his PhD (Candidate of Science) degree from Kazan State University in 1992.
“After graduating from the PhD course, I’ve already visited Kazan University over a dozen times. I consider it to be my second home after Al Baath University,” he shared.
Eight years ago, KFU, ABU and AUST signed a cooperation agreement and held several events together. However, joint work was interrupted by the Syrian War. Syrian colleagues expressed their wish to renew large-scale cooperation as soon as possible.
Deputy Director for Science of the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies Anton Kolchugin showed them the unique labs of the Institute, which, by the way, have undergone major changes since 2011. Deputy Director of IGPT for Marketing Ildus Chukmarov spoke about advanced training programs.
President Mualla assured everyone that educational development is a priority for his institution, and relevant steps should be made soon.
