Coordinator for Cooperation with Government and Industry of Hokkaido University Marina Lomaeva visited on 28th October.

Kazan University team at the meeting was headed by Vice-Rector for Education Dmitry Tayursky.

Ms. Lomaeva spoke about the HaRP (Human Resource Development Platform for Japan-Russia Economic Cooperation and Personnel Exchange) project. The program aims to promote humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

‘Our project’s scope is unprecedented. The most promising areas to cooperate with KFU are medicine, physics, and IT. Of course, there are also huge prospects for the popularization of Japanese language in Tatarstan and Russian language in those regions of Japan which already work with Kazan University,’ said Lomaeva.

Currently, there are 251 students at KFU studying Japanese.

‘The University should be an entry point for companies to enter the market,’ responded Dr. Tayursky. ‘It’s the only institution which has competences in integrating foreigners and adapting those overseas professionals who have been hired by the Russian side.’

Kazan University has ongoing cooperation with 15 Japanese universities. This academic year, there is one undergraduate student and 14 interns from Japan.
