Supervisory Board approves University's five-year performance report

A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

In his presentation, Rector Ilshat Gafurov noted, ‘We are successfully fulfilling our 2020 performance goals – according both to the Development Program and the Competitiveness Program. In this regard, I want to emphasize that we heeded the recommendations of our superior body – the Ministry of Science and Higher Education - renewed some parameters and made new, more ambitious objectives.’

The Rector’s report touched on the years since 2015 and covered education, science, innovation, internationalization, infrastructure, finance, plans and prospects.

‘In the future, we plan to focus on translation and internationalization in order to become a leading university in Russia in 2024 with regards to graduating professionals with best results in integrating academic and applied skills and competences and adapting and transforming the surrounding multiethnic and multicultural environment,’ explained Dr. Gafurov.

Chairman of the Supervisory Board emphasized the special role which KFU plays in the life of the Republic of Tatarstan, ‘A good report, full and with nice dynamics. I recommend approving this report and the University’s development program, as well as recommend Ilshat Rafkatovich for a next term as rector. We can see how the University changes and develops.’

Member of the Board, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Marina Borovskaya, confirmed that KFU adheres to its obligations, ‘The success that we see shows positive dynamics; the chosen priority areas are getting attention. We understand that the University completes its tasks as a federal institution and attracts international students. With such results, I suggest recommending Ilshat Rafkatovich for a next term as rector.’

All the decisions were voted for. The University’s budget for 2019 is 11 billion rubles, and the average salary continues to rise while being twice the size of the average salary in Tatarstan as a whole.

In conclusion, President Minnikhanov gave appreciation letters to Ms. Borovskaya and Deputy Minister of Finance of Russia Aleksey Lavrov.
